I feel like this commitment to your lived reality, staring into what is arising within you regardless of the "rules" of what you should be feeling, noticing, or "doing" is the most profound act of courage - acting in the face of fear... you described it so honestly, rawly, and without pretense.
And you might be starting a category... about what's true - "not just the pretty parts". So much of what people post in spaces like these is curated, even performative, or just sharing "the good stuff". But sometimes the "best" stuff isn't pretty at all at first. It's just honest, curious, and courageous. It's opening Pandora's box because it can't stay closed any longer without some part of us dying...
I think I'm writing this because I'm recognizing it in my own life... It's hard for me to share out loud, much less in a public substack, what is deeply uncomfortable and real (but also possible and exciting) for me right now.
Hi Adair, I chuckled at the beginning of this article because I, too, felt a little concerned about you upon reading your earlier articles. I love what you are doing and who you are being. I love that you have a supportive partner and the opportunity to do something that can be very scary. I look forward to following your new adventure!
Way to go Adair. You're legendary 🏴☠️
Thank you. ❤️Am I building a category here? Sober, midlife, mom of a blended family woman on a sabbatical? 😂
